Riva Star Riva Star  is the original SDF system. Riva Star is a silver diamine fluoride solution system used to desensitise tooth pain immediately.

Riva Star SDF solution contains 38% Silver Fluoride. Its step 2 potassium iodide solution reduces staining.

Riva Star Aqua is the next generation SDF system. Riva Star Aqua is a water based silver fluoride solution that is also effective as an SDF solution.

Riva Star Aqua (AgF) delivers all the benefits of Riva Star, without the possibility of tissue burn. It also has an improved taste and smell.

Its step 2 potassium iodide solution reduces staining.

REDUCE STAINING

✔ Riva Star: Yes. Unlike other silver fluoride systems, the Riva Star two step procedure minimises the risk of staining. By applying the potassium iodide solution (KI) over the silver diamine fluoride (SDF), a silver iodide creamy white precipitate is formed which then turns clear.

✔ Riva Star Aqua: Yes. Just like Riva Star, Riva Star Aqua includes a Potassium Iodide (KI) Step 2 solution, for significantly reducing unsightly black stains.

NO TISSUE BURN RISK

✖ Riva Star: Burn risk. A gingival barrier is required. Riva Star may cause irritation to tissue.

✔ Riva Star Aqua: No burn risk. Riva Star is water based and ammonia free. This reduces soft tissue irritation and eliminates odours while improving storage stability.
